VASTU GUIDELINES – GARDEN TREES & PLANTS

The Main Gate is the entrance to the house compound. If there is enough space, most people prefer to have small gardens at both the front and back of their Site. Vastu Shastra provides guidelines for house design, including the planting and care of auspicious plants. Every guideline is explained scientifically and logically in Vastu. As an Vastu Specialist I have tried to explain these guidelines scientifically and rationally so you can make your own decision about what to do.

WHAT TREES SHOULD BE PLANTED IN THE HOUSE GARDEN ACCORDING TO VASTU SHASTRA?

Below are some of the auspicious and useful trees that Vastu considers to be good for inmates.

PEEPAL TREE

It is also known by the Aswatha or Aswatha tree. Scientists discovered that this tree produces large amounts of oxygen and it has thick leaves. It is recommended that you circumambulate the tree every morning. It cannot be cut. It is prohibited from being cut near a home because of its spread roots that can cause damage to the foundation.

NEEM TREE

The tree’s extract is used to control pesticides. It has a great medicinal value. The twigs of the tree are used for brushing teeth, and neem oil can be used in physiotherapy. Because neem is bitter, it is common to eat a mixture of neem, tender green mango, and jaggery on Ugadi, the New Year in South India. This symbolic gesture shows that one is ready to face the bitter, sweet, and bitter experiences of next year with equanimity. This tree is great for a house garden. It is one of the two species in the Azadirachta genus and is native to India’s subcontinent. India, Nepal Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are all home to it.

MANGO TREE

The mango tree has many parts that have medicinal properties. The leaves and twigs of the mango tree are used to control pests. Its leaves can be used for puja. It is considered to be very auspicious that the dead are cremated with ma ngo fire-wood. Mango fruit is the king of fruits, and it is very delicious. Raw mangoes can be used to make pickles or as a vegetable. Mango trees can also live for up to 400-500 years. This tree is also very useful and should be planted in your garden.

JACK-FRUIT TREE

The jack-fruit tree produces a variety of seasonal fruit, similar to the mango tree. Different types of sweets can be made from the yellow, juicy kernels in jackfruit. The jackfruit kernels are then cut into small strips and made into delicious jackfruit chips. This is a Kerala speciality. Also nutritious, the Jack-fruit’s seed can be used in South India as a vegetable. This tree’s beautiful yellow wood is used for furniture, doors, and windows. Its leaves can be used to perform puja. It is therefore useful and can be planted in your yard.

BANANA TREE

As symbols of wealth and prosperity, the tender banana tree saplings are used to decbananaorate doors of houses, pandals, and other places during festivals and functions. Nearly every part of this plant can be used for medicinal or economic purposes. The best source of instant energy is bananas, which are high in potassium. Raw bananas can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. The skin of the banana is used for dyeing. Concoctions made with the stem, roots, flowers, and leaves can treat many illnesses. This is an essential item for your garden.

COCONUT TREE

Each part of the tree can be used. Coconut water is a refreshing, coconut-healthy, low-fat, and cool drink. Coconut flesh is used extensively in South Indian cuisine and gives it a unique flavour. Coconut oil can be used as a cooking oil and as a hair oil. Coir, a useful byproduct of coconut oil, is used to make mats and carpets. Poor people use the leaves of the coconut tree to weave roofs for their huts. The dry leaves of the coconut tree can also be used to make firewood. It is considered sacred because of its utility. It is a must-have in any garden.

SANDALWOOD TREE

Sandalwood is very costly because it is used in exquisite handicrafts and its oil has a very pleasant scent. The head cools down when sandalwood paste is applied to the forehead. Incense sticks can be made from sandalwood. It is rare to find sandalwood trees, so it has been common for thieves to cut down trees at night, if they are found within a house compound. It is worth trying to grow this fragrant tree if you enjoy it. However, you might need to protect it.

VASTU SHASTRA DIRECTS THAT THE TREES SHOULD BE PLANETED IN THE PLOT.

You can plant smaller shrubs on the East and North sides. However, no trees should ever be planted in the North-East corner because they block the morning sun’s rays.

Tall trees such as Coconut can be planted on the South-West or West sides. However, they should not be too close for the sun to block it completely. The shadow of a tree should not touch the house. This should happen between 9 A.M. and 3 P.M.

Large trees such as Banyan and Peepal should not be placed too close to the house because their roots could damage the foundation or compound wall. The building will not receive the sun’s rays because the large trees absorb the most sunlight.

Useful trees can be planted in a home compound. These include coconut, neem and sandalwood.

Do not plant flowers in your garden They shed their leaves in the summer.

Avoid trees with insects worms and honey bees, bumblebees, owls, snakes, and bumble bees. A tree that must be cut down because it is unlucky or other reasons should be expressed to the tree the day before it is cut. The tree must then be removed from its roots. Within the next three months, a new tree should be planted in its stead. This is one way to conserve nature.

ACCORDING TO VASTU SHASTRA, WHICH PLANTS ARE TO BE GROWN IN THE HOUSE GARDEN?

TULASI (BASIL).

Ocimum tenuiflorum, also called Ocimum Sanctum, is a perennial aromatic plant of the Lamiaceae family. It is sometimes referred to as holy basil, holy basil, or tulasi. Tulasi should be placed on the North-East or East sides of your house or in front. Ayurvedic medicine uses Tulasi extensively. It improves blood circulation and digestive health. It is believed that it can treat many kinds of diseases. It is believed that this plant is sacred and used in daily worship.

JASMINE

Plants with sweet-smelling flowers such as jasmine, red lotus and blue lotus are great for the house compound. They also make a pleasant fragrance that can be used in daily worship. Indian women use Jasmine flowers as hair decorations. They string together flowers like this one. These flowers are also available all year because they are readily available.

THORNY PLANTATIONS

It is not a good idea to plant thorny plants near your house. Cactus should be avoided. Other than roses, thorny plants have negative energy. All thorny plants should always be removed and destroyed. One reason is that thorns can cause injury if you pass them.

CREEPERS

Climbers or creepers are a group of vines or plants that require support. Their clingers can slowly creep into cracks in walls and cause damage. Climbers should be kept in a well-lit area and supported by a sturdy structure. A creeper such as a money plant may be grown inside the house, but they should not be grown outdoors without support from a tree.

FLOWER POTS

The North-East, East and North-East compound walls should be avoided as flower pots can block sunlight from the east. These directions are okay for decorative and flower pots, but they shouldn’t grow higher than 3 feet.

LAWNS & WATER BODY

The East or North should have lawns. You can either make a small water-fall, 3-4 feet in height, or build a water body that leaves the North-East corner. A swimming pool should be located in the North or North-East direction if there is one. This will allow the sun to shine on the pool and the water to be purified by the UV rays.
